Artist Statement:

From The Artist

The body is at the center of a definition of man in a society and the mean by which this very society is realising itself through an embodiment of ideologies and standard it generates. It is the result of a social, political, religious and cultural structuration.

Art being a way of using the world, I use the body under social appearance and the product of society as a directory of forms. By observing and analysing spaces and in-betweens, one can find out the weaknesses, the structural unbalance, the gaps and the disorders of a pathogen society and a disenchanted world. Here is where the work of art provides restoring solutions, suggestions for questioning responses. I take the spectator throughout an introspection process which places the individuals in front of himself. F.B.

Maria Cristina Bergesio, Art Historian

Excerpt from the catalogue exhibition “No Body Decoration”, Maria Pacini Fazzi Editore, Lucca p.78.

Frédéric Braham’s research is based on the idea of working available products, but also images, references and behaviour that are analysed, selected, organized and recodified into cultural objects. His vision is that of art as action, which aims to involve the spectator not only emotionally but also physically. (…)
